Is it Time for a Tune Up?

Basit Alqubaisi - Thursday, January 01, 2015

Routine tune ups should be done according to the intervals stated in the owner's manual for your vehicle. However, even if you have recently had maintenance done and it seems like everything is fine, you might be missing these signs that some maintenance needs to be done on your vehicle. Keep an eye out for these signs. If you notice any of these things, make sure you come in to Optimum Auto to get a tune up done before a major problem occurs that will cost you a lot of money.

1) Starting Your Vehicle is Becoming More Difficult

If your vehicle isn't turning over easily every time you go to start your car, it could be a sign of a variety of problems that will need attention soon.

2) Your Gas Mileage Decreases Quickly

If you are suddenly having to fill your gas tank more often, you may have a bad fuel injector, a problem with the spark plugs, or a dirty fuel filter.

3) Spongy Brakes

If your brakes are starting to feel soft or you are having to push down harder on them, you may have low brake fluid or you might need new brake pads.

4) Knocking Noises

Knocking or pinging noises can be caused by bad fuel injectors or a variety of other issues.

5) Vehicle Jerks When Shifting

If your vehicle jerks when shifting, you probably need a new transmission filter and some transmission fluid or you might need a whole new transmission.

6) Steering Wheel Squeals When Turned

Squealing from the steering wheel could be a sign of low fluid levels or of a leak.

7) Your Vehicle Randomly Stalls

Random stalling can be caused by so many different things. Make sure to note what you are doing and what is running when your vehicle stalls. The more information you can give your mechanic, the better.

Call Optimum Auto at (780) 477-2883 to schedule your tune up.
